Kart Valley in Newtownabbey this year played host to
the inaugural IFS COURIER EXPRESS / FedEx Annual Karting
Championship.
An excellent nights racing was enjoyed by all IFS Courier staff and
customers. The night was made even more exciting with the mixture
of novice drivers and those who felt they knew a thing or two when
it came to the art of overtaking at speed and driving on the "racing
line" even if their skills were finally honed by watching Michael
Schumacher on Sunday afternoons.
After a few practice laps the adrenaline started to develop and nearly
everyone felt they had a chance of winning a race or two. However
all drivers had to try and cool their engines while Kart Valley provided
a splendid buffet and desert and brief everybody on the racing rules.
As racing got underway it became clear that some drivers wanted to
settle a few scores in the nicest possible way. |
The racing was fast, tight and not without a few controversial
moments with some drivers getting a few black flags for their trouble.
However after five hotly contested heats, eight semi-finals and a
fifteen lap final the podium finishes went to:-
1st Geoff McFadden - 2nd Graeme Hanna - 3rd Peter Markwell
