The photos below illustrate the
rowing boat being loaded onto an IFS vehicle for onward airfreighting
to Uganda
and the boat in Uganda where local man Ian Harvey made a "world
record breaking row" across Lake Victoria, the second
largest fresh water lake in the world. It was all in aid
of the charity "Fields of Life",
raising money to build a school and complete a hospital in
Uganda.
| This is the first time that an individual rower has
ever attempted to cross Lake Victoria in a small boat
and Ian, will be one of the oldest 'single scullers'
to have ever set out on a journey of this type for charity.
The BBC followed Ians exploits across the crocodile and
hippo infested waters of Lake Victoria and hope to air
a documentary on his exploits on BBC2 NI later this year. |
